Zinnowitz: Bernsteinbad mit großer Bühne
Zinnowitz is the largest of Usedom's amber-coast resorts – and thanks to its open-air seaside stage with the Vineta festival also the most culturally lively. The sunken city of Vineta is brought back to life here every summer, right beside the broad sandy beach with its modern pier.
There is a place to stay in every price bracket: the Strandhotel Luise von Preussen and the Pommersche Hof stand for upmarket resort comfort, the Hotel Baltic for the classic middle, and the Pension Lachmöwe for the personally run house a few streets inland. Campers find pitches near the beach at the Pommernland campsite.
Its position in the island's north makes Zinnowitz a good base for Peenemünde with its technology museum and for bike tours across the Gnitz peninsula. Those reserving directly with the landlord save the agency fee – and know, thanks to local advice, which performance on the seaside stage is truly worth the tickets.
